Here's to my dad and my baby's dad,
To every man who takes delight in being a daddy,
And every father who has done his daddy-duty well
To every papa who can provide and protect,
Who can admonish and embrace, all the same,
And doesn't think it lowly to say,'I love you.'
Here's to the man who bade good bye
to the man-behind-the-newspaper image
and played the active parent.
To every man who has changed a diaper
Knows where to find his kids' socks
And can play part-time-mom.
Here's to every pop who's had a proud-daddy moment
Knows what his son's favourite sport is
To every man who treats his daughter like a princess.
To the man who sired and took care too,
Who decided he wouldn't rest until his off-spring
Was ready to go out into the world.
Happy Father's Day to every Super Daddy out there

DeleteBeautiful lines, Divya. Father's day is also special for all fathers who are unable to be present to their children. So I borrow your lines and dedicate them to all estranged fathers out there.
ReplyDeleteHere's to every man who is unable to take delight in being a daddy, and every father who has been unable to do his daddy-duty well, to every papa who is kept from being able to provide and protect, who cannot admonish and embrace, all the same, and wishes he could say, 'I love you.'
Thank you Subho,
Delete:) Cheers to all daddies.
Happy Father's day to Parth's Dad too. :)
Is there going to be a Father's Day Special Letter to Parth. I really love the series. Adorable!
Lovely!!! Happy father's day to your dad and your baby's dad and to all the lovely dads in the world!!! I remember my brother fondly too--he spends so much quality time with his daughters:)

Dads deserve a lot more credit, really. :)

ReplyDeleteIt is, Animesh. I wrote at a point when I could gift these dads nothing but just some appreciation for all that they do/all that they have done. :)
DeleteThank you, Animesh.
...I'm no super-dad but you've written a super tribute Divya!
ReplyDeleteCheers!!
C'mon Amit, I'm sure you find something you can relate to in those lines :) Not everybody can be a 'super-dad' as such, but everybody can be a good dad. I'm sure you're one. Happy Fathers Day to you.
DeleteCheers!
Awesome post and loved the line to my dad and my baby's dad and the one on man behind newspaper...Happy Fathers Day to all the proud daddys you know :)
ReplyDelete:)
DeleteSeriously, I know a lot of dads who play a very active parent. And I just felt we need to recognise them.
Happy Father's Day to all the proud dads that you know too. :)

ReplyDeletehappy father's day :)

DeleteWow! you figured that out? Correct. 100/100 for that, Deb. :D
Happy Father's day to me? Thank you. :D
I was just pulling your leg. I'll take that and pass it on to my hubby, ok. :D.
DeleteYou have a great weekend.
Thanks to your sweeping, effusive tribute, I can pat my back!
ReplyDeletePlease USP, please pat your back. You deserve that.
DeleteSome people might say that Father's Day is another gimmick blown up by the card companies; and that fathers are just doing the duties they ought to do. Well, maybe. But it's when we come across people who have been deprived of this thing called 'father's love,' that we feel richer for it.
Happy Father's Day to you, USP.
This is such a sweet tribute! Reading what you've written, I am sure every one will find part of their personal reflection to some degree, for it bears the essence of a deep n rich experience ! Dads are always special...:)))
ReplyDeleteThank you Panchali. I hope everybody finds something they can relate to and feel blessed about.
DeleteYes they are, And we take them for granted, most of the time :)
Nice line especially for fathers day... :)
ReplyDeleteThank you. :)
DeleteExtremely beautiful lines because dads are superheroes (and so are the mums).
ReplyDeleteThank you, Shalu. You're right :)
DeleteThat's so beautiful. I feel the same way. And, to the dad of my kids, he already knows how high in my esteem he is. Really, what would we do without such men who are pillars of strength to us and our babies. Hats off! Loved your poem. If you have time, read this post:
